-Beautiful artwork, Debra and nice presentation.
-Thanks for sharing all of your notes.
-Do you plan a book to publish or just on FS?
-Whichever it is, I will look forward to the poems, et al.
-You wrote a very good poem reflecting on your
past while tending to other's needs. I think
that is something many of us go through
in different parts of our life.
-Good use of alliteration with "calm complacence,"
as well as the personification with "stewed."
-I like your last verse, and I think you will earn those wings.
-The fact that you're writing and expressing your feelings is a big step!

    Hello Pam,
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. I appreciate it :)
I'm not planning on publishing, it's just for here I think - somewhere to record and share my personal growth and joy... I'm not sure what it will morph into, but for now, I think it will be a great tool to make sure I reflect on my blessings.
Best wishes as always, Debra :) x

This poem, It's Time, seems to find the speaker at a time when the thrust is no longer the family, but a time for the playmaker to get some playing time in.

Oh, how great! The perfect prologue! My, how I can relate to time flying as I tended to my children...and then my grandchildren...and suddenly see I'm well entrenched in my "golden years" (though I'm still looking for the shine I must admit)--and turning about to see what is left of me!

I'm looking forward to your voice, in whatever style of writing...

Much success, Debra!

Karenina

Debra, this is great! I love the flow of this rhyming verse. It reads beautifully and is all very relatable. That said, I can't believe that the best of you has gone astray. You always sound far too vibrant and active for that! This is a charming verse and if I was able to give a 6* I would. Looking forward to reading more of your book. Thanks for sharing Debra. Take care Debbie

    Hello Debbie :)
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. I really appreciate it.
I am active and I try to be upbeat, but sometimes (most times), I'm so busy trying to fit things in and make things right for everybody that the joy comes last, or not at all. I want the joy!
    Thanks for listening!

Hi Deb,
I think you're a rocket. Now me? That's a different story. I've spent so much time working, paying bills, household chores, etc. Suddenly I see myself in a video. Who on earth is that bald-headed, wrinkled old sadsack? It's enough to get me quite depressed. Five weeks ago, I was invited to join the worship team at Lancaster Baptist Church, where we've been attending since last September. When I watched the service online the other day, I was flabbergasted.
Your poem fits the bill so well.... me, not you!
"The best of me has gone astray,
absconded over time.
I didn't feel it happening,
the slow but sure decline."

I really enjoyed the humor in your poem, Debra. Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,
Kimbob

    Hi Kimbob :)
Thank you so much for reading and leaving me your lovely feedback.
I'm sure you're not even half as sadsack-ish as you paint yourself!
I'm glad you enjoyed my poem :)
Take care.... best wishes as always, Debra x

Wonderful rhymed poem about taking care of yourself.

Good rhyme and meter that doesn't sound forced. Nice presentation and imagery. Good luck in the contest.

This is a very good poem. If's a prolog to your book you say you say the contents of which are a surprise. I think I understand that, I've been writing a journal all my life, so there's no surprise for me. I'm always in touch with my feelings.

I really enjoyed your poem I'm just wondering what your process is about your book. I'm curious to know what your process will be. I have different books I want to finish and I have much about myself and my life experiences that I could put together as a book, but I don't have the first clue how to do that.Best wishes!

    Hi Alexandra :)
Thank you so much for your kind feedback. I appreciate it :)
I've never kept a journal or diary so this is all new to me! I don't really have a 'process' as such, I just want to record things that touch my heart or amuse me in some way. I'll just post whatever is inspired by these moments and experiences and see what evolves.
Good luck with your writing :)

A clever, well rhymed and metered poem with a solemn message about finding your wings and flying again Debra. We sometimes spend time looking after our family and forget our own needs. When I brought up my family I devised a democracy within the home and everyone had needs and we all have to take our turn to have our own way, it worked well and it gave me some time to myself as we were all considered, perhaps you should do this too? Love Dolly x

Don't worry, I think we've all written something that bamboozles us with its content, and as much as we search for a reason and logic, none appears, but that's the quirky nature of the beast I'm afraid, but beautifully written Debra, blessings Roy
