This is a very cute and well written children's poem you have penned for the contest. You used very good descriptive words and very cute imagery from the art work you chose. Best wishes in the contest. love and blessings, Teri

Hahahaha. Good advice. I think I'll stay away from Maggie Ophelia Belinda Malone. She's not one to short change. Love the name, and love this delightful poem.

You did a great job with your contest entry, Beth. The use
of monorhyme within each verse was clever--tied each verse
together. The image was perfect. Your many examples of the
witch and what she does were great. You gave readers and
young children great advice. I believe those kids would enjoy
your fun poem.
Thanks for sharing and best wishes in the contest, Jan

Best one I've read so far. The name alone would get children giggling. Add a cross-eyed cat and you'll get laughs too. Another plus is the line about curing colds. Good luck in the contest.

Good luck. This piece if read by others who habitually only read authors in their circle could have a chance to Win, show or place. ................................................

Thank you Tom, I never count on a win. Particularly with the Fanstory team, but I try to have fun with writing it. I did with this one.

This would be fun for kids on Halloween. Your poem is lots of fun to read aloud with all its sounds, especially the mono-rhymed quatrains. Loved the radar bat! Best wishes in the contest!

Thank you, Helen. I'm glad you liked my poem. The name I gave the witch was a real person, almost. My mom used to tell me about an old black lady who lived near her as a girl named Maggie Ophelia Belinda Jones. She and her brother loved repeating her name and I liked it to as a kid. It sort of has a rhythm to it.

Great poem. How poignant, I just left the island of Siquijor in the Philippines. Full of eerie, ghostly tales, faith healers and witch doctors!
Great prose concocted into an excellent poem that flows well. A fun read.

Beth, this is a wonderful children story in poetry form. I enjoyed the play with words about the Cross eyed cat and Bat which has radar and the witches brew and all of the different things that you use that stirs up a spell for the reader. God bless and have a good day. Patricia.
