Like the sound of your words in your poem. It is good to speak about the warmth and also the spring flowers. Violets are gorgeous flowers and we also like the bluebells blossoming in spring.

Are you from TX? A friend of mine lives there, and that's her favorite flower. I've seen pics, and they're gorgeous!

Thanks for the very nice review.

Beautiful entry. I'm glad you chose artwork from FS. Excellent rhyme and flow and attractive presentation. As you mention, the spring flowers are hearty. They will withstand the storms. Great imagery of them digging in, claiming their space. Excellent internal rhyme with muster. bluster, and cluster. All the best in the contest. judi

This is a wonderful poem about what's in store for us this coming spring. I loved your personification of these two flowers and the way they dig in their roots to fend off the storms and claim their places in nature.

The poem is also very visually appealing and the rhyme and meter are impeccable. Great job.

I liked that this poem took me into the world of the heather. I felt how the way it grew helped it survive aggressive weather. It made me think about heather in a way that I haven't before. It's just a little poem but it took me to an unexpected place of feeling connection with nature. It also made me aware of the metaphors that apply to survival - strong roots, strong connections, sticking together etc. & left me in a thoughtful place

I didnt quite understand why they were fans of their earth mothers story?
this was the one concept that could have been clearer for me ( but I might just be a bit dim lol)

Thanks for this refreshing review. The stanza you mentioned is a metaphor. Flowers are like Mother Nature's children. Earth-Mother just flowed better than "Mother Nature," I thought.

This is beautiful, Rachelle. Your flowers sound so determined and powerful. I love the whole poem, but these are my favourite lines:
They muster and bluster
and cluster so tight,
Thanks so much for sharing.

I am always in awe of the seasons and how they change and how nature copes with the ups and downs and still survives, the flowers, trees, the birds and bees, I admire them all. A fine poem Rachelle with some clever rhymes, love Dolly x

I can't wait to see the first of my hardy little crocuses push their way through the snow and ice here in Massachusetts in March! They are amazing- such an inspiration to just dig down and wait out the winter. Soon they can say "We're back!!!" I enjoyed your spring theme.

This seems to be one of the most thinly veiled assaults on a FanStory member I have seen in a while, Rachelle. Clearly you are referring to a member who has daughters who vote for her in contests. I agree that the member-sponsored contests could use an overhaul, or perhaps be eliminated entirely, but as it stands, these flowers have not violated site policy, so there's always that.

Both violet flowers and heather shrubs have very shallow root systems, so a bulldozer might not be needed.

Why, Gloria! Look at you and that writer's imagination of yours! I'm just a freezing Upstate NY girl thinking of flowers and the warmth of what is coming in the future!

Loved this. Nature is resilient that's for sure. But from what I've learned about you, you are even more resilient. This was full of character . Each flower a survivor. BTW, your poetry skills are kick ass. Loved this. Gretchen

I long for Spring and this is a great poem that makes me think about struggling through a long winter like a plant although plants have deeper roots and it's amazing how well they handle the elements. Very well written, good flow and rhyme.
