This vividly descriptive, expressive poem conveys a powerful message about how a desperate, tortured person can "hold a pen" and use expression to find catharsis.

Thank you, Janice :-). This matched my mood this morning, and also lifted me from it.

Beautiful, Mike. You can feel the pain and the anguish in this poem. It tells of someone with such lost hope, torn between a sanctioned love and her doubts about culpability. Best, JohnC

Thabks John :-). It was a melancholy journey to work this morning, then I found this image and knew a poem was coming!

I never know if I'm interpreted your pieces correctly, Mike, and please forgive me if I'm off the mark, but being a poet, you know a piece of poetry has a different meaning to all that read it. Your work is always enjoyable, my friend.

I totally agree, John. Poetry is release of expression for the poet, and hopefully pathos for the reader, whatever slant or form that takes.

Who told you to write about my feelings this morning, Mike? This is a wonderful poem that I can oh, so identify with at the moment. So I suppose the six is a bad move, as it's subjective, but so many times when I would want to give you a totally objective one I have none left in my limited store. So I think it's still fair, as it is a brilliant poem - wish I'd written it. Kate xx

Thank you so much, Kate. :-). We must be in sync, as I was writing about my own, albeit using a female perspective. I think creativity and expression can be key to lifting us, and indeed one another if we're lucky. I'm so glad you plugged into this one.

I must say, I liked this one Mike, I particularly loved "to fall upon the mattress of creation" I like the originality of a creatorial bed. My daughter taught and created a brand new style of teaching performing arts to the junior primary kids , and all the resources she accumulated and created, were misappropriated by a company supposedly "cleaning up" after flood damage, they were sacked, but she's shattered with two years of hard work, it would be like me (or you) losing the thousands of written works, music, songs and poetry, she's heart broken, the photo combined with the poem hit me that way. Well done, blessings Roy

Thanks so much, Roy. That would be devastating! Still, anyone with that much creativity will find their way back - hopefully soon.
I was on the train this morning feeling a bit melancholy, so I thought I'd write about how expressing ourselves creatively can lift us, and it worked :-)

Oh yes, she?s got a great attitude, but it?s a grieving process, as a dad I want to grieve.for her.
