I think you are right that people love their devices and love looking at the screen as it can produce so many images we can tune into and we never feel alone when we have a computer. I think it is harming human relationships. Your poem is poignant and honest, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

I amazes me how seductive they are, one will see people gazing at their cell phones more than the people around, which should be many times more fascinating than their screens, I know I tend to take my iPad everywhere. Beautifully written my friend, blessings Roy

Although you are devoted to your computer, even passionate about your relationship with it, I noted the dead-pan emotionless delivery.

Watch that joystick! Things could become messy.

The world is definitely becoming 'sick' if computers are our replacement lovers. (Sick in the sense of ill, not the newer slang usage of 'sick' meaning 'outstandingly or amazingly good or impressive'.)

Your satire is excellent. I can read it over and over and catch something new every time.
The rhymed quatrains are a great way to make the 'voice' sound mechanical and non-feeling.
And yes, I too am afraid of what will come if we don't use our time efficiently and step away from the computer and go outside for a while.
The author's notes bring it home that the future with all these gadgets will bring a sad conclusion that we are not prepared for.
Thank you for the veiled warning of what we are doing to ourselves.
Jesse

The objective correlative of your work reminisces the extremely useful and inseparable nature of the protagonist and his computer.

The work highlights the grip exerted on him by the computer and how he could be deemed hopeless without it.

The work earns its texture through its effective use of rhymes, alliterations, metaphors, onomatopoeias and imagery.

Excellent work. Bravo.

I honestly understand and feel we are creating a society that has no clue how to get along with each other. When my third son was in college, his freshman year he had a roommate who ended up dropping out because he couldn't get away from his computer to go to classes. He was that hooked. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for the excellent review and I think it is true that for some of these young people, they are already there, in the grip of this machine man relationship. estory

Thank you for sharing this satire poem. It is sad that technology plays such a big part in our lives. You see people on their smart phones continually, rather than taking time to just sit down and visit with family and friends.

This satirical piece strikes home at what has become real life--the obsession with and love affair with our computers and how this draws us away from human relationships. Well-crafted, with a mechanical meter as your point out. Well done.

Your poem is great satire. Unfortunately too many of us seem to have and unhealthy relationship with the computer. It monopolizes so much time that could be spent elsewhere and can't be good for our eyes or our bodies. People who write find it so much easier than writing by hand. It is perfect of paying bills and bookkeeping, and when one is tracing their roots on Ancestry or doing research it is invaluable. It is a superb learning tool. I admit, I'm on it too much of the time.
