Your story for the contest reads well, Ulla. I enjoyed all of the details. I could picture everything as I read. I'm thrilled your daughter was safe. I imagine she had a ball as you stated. Did y9our hubby know before hand he would be at sea when he needed to pick her up?
Best wishes in the contest.
Respectfully, Jan

I bet Amelie was excited having the MPs pick her up. Children love that kind of thing. I know how worried and scared you were. I'm curious - what would happen if you were completely unable to go on your flight at the last minute due to something accident or something?

Thank you so much, Yvonne. Yes, if something like that happened they would take you off the flight and call a standby. The flight would then be delayed accordingly. But I didn't have an emergency. Just a heck of a worry. LOL. Ulla:)))

This is a great story, Ulla. It took us from a peaceful morning to a frantic night, but ended with a laugh. I can understand your fears! Glad Tommy learned a lesson. Good luck in the contest.

Oh my word, Ulla! What a nightmare, I'm glad your daughter thought it fun. Lol. What a story she had to tell her friends. I really enjoyed this story, my friend, you never have told us what happened to Tommy. Although after that debacle, it's a wonder you didn't give him concrete shoes and push him off the boat!!! Lol. Well done and good luck n the contest. :)) Sandra xx

Hehehe. I very nearly did. As a matter of fact, he was mortified. Served him right. The school never got over when the MPs showed up. They found that to be a rather glamorous adventure. Thanks a lot, my dear friend. Ulla xxx

I would have been out of my mind with worry too. I guess if you hadn't tried to call him, you wouldn't have known there was a problem. It sounds like if the if the MP were two hours late picking her up, she might have worried as well. All's well that ends well but it if Tommy was at fault and never did it again, he should have realized you would call and be out in fear of what might happen with your daughter. Good story for the contest.

Thanks a lot, Beth. Very true, but to call him before a flight had become a ritual. He should have thought about that. Ulla:)))

Oh my goodness! What a horrible state you were in during your flight! And poor Amelie - she had to wait two hours after school! But apparently, she didn't mind having the MP escort. A dramatic story from you life! Thanks for sharing and best wishes in the contest!

I had just finished to put on my uniform (finished putting on) I don't know why but we use the gerund not the infinitive in this case.

heard my seven year (seven-year-old)

I through by bags (threw)

Being a parent, I understand how you felt, she was a little too little to be left without an responsible adult to pick her, but thank god he was able to cover it for her. This was the vivid memory one would like to forget. Well done, blessings Roy
Typo : I had finished (to put on) putting on? 2: when my seven year (old)
3: radar(s) and missiles? 4: I (through by) bags. Threw my? 5: Alice(,) what the heck...6: two hour(s) after...7: the MP(s) fetched her

Thank you so much, Roy. No, it was not the best of flights I've ever had. But it all ended well. I have made all the edits. Thanks a lot for pointing them out. Ulla:)))

Wha a breathtakingly scary story. It is so easy these days for the best laid plan to be completely upset by things we never thought we would have to control. I bet that little girl had the time of her life with the MPs.

I really like this story, it reads well and feels very well structured and paced. I really like the beginning and the way you have the contrasting character roles - we're still at the stage of telling our daughters to hurry up, you've given me hope that it might not last forever!
