The hand. Open to be shook in friendship, affirmation, raised in defense or raised as a threat. The hand can be used to caress or comfort. To raise something or someone who has fallen. The hand can also be raised in greeting or to wave farewell. There can be so many uses of the hand that it is difficult to name them all. So then let it suffice to say that there are few body parts that are more important than the useful hand.

These hands are open wide, Nolan, to receive your forthright commentary about the necessity of the hand. This wonderful tribute to the hand is delivered with grace and with wit. Thank you so much for the awesome review and the excellent rating.
Have a great rest of your weekend,

Hello Jesse,
I guess you could call this a hands-on poem.
You hit the nail squarely on the head in your poem;
the hand is not only critical to crafts, but to art, music
and virtually all aspects of life.
Education is good, but if your car isn't running,
you need a mechanic; if your heater isn't working, a technician.
I like the free verse with a few rhymes.
Your have a nice touch in this poem, and touch is one
of the most important senses.
Well done.
Robert

Wow, this six-star review revived my day and made it special! Thank you so much, Robert, for the cute comment about the hands-on poem. I am so glad that you like the free verse with a few rhymes just for good measure. You can't take the rhyme completely out of the poet. It simply can't be done! Anyway, I have always been fond of rhyming, and interject it, whenever it seems appropriate. It makes me happy to read your words of kindness saying I have a nice touch in my poem. Thanks, again, for the exceptional review and rating!
Have a wonderful weekend, my friend,
    Jesse

I like your theme and yes, there is not shame in doing physical labor. "Everything is made by constant motion" is an excellent use of words that shows the importance and hard work of the hand. Excellent them for a poem that makes the reader think.

Wow, Jesse. I haven't read anything of yours in a while, and I really enjoyed this. You're completely right that there is nothing at all wrong with manual labor. It's to be appreciated and respected, as it's the basis of everything that has made our lives convenient and even possible, and those who perform that manual labor should be equally appreciated and respected.

I particularly enjoyed the flow and rhyme of:

"Everything is made
by constant motion
construction created
with loving devotion."

Thank you, as well, for a little glimpse into your past.

Thanks so much for your boost of confidence! I am not always sure how folks will take to my writing about the hand. But, they did, and for the most part, they got what I was saying, which is good.
    Have a pleasant Sunday,
    Jesse

You're welcome. Let's be fair. Manual labor takes skill, practice and knowledge, so why shouldn't it be honored? If we could all do (or were willing to do) manual labor, we wouldn't be hiring manual laborers.

Thanks, Jesse. Enjoy the rest of the day. I'm spending my exciting Sunday doing laundry and food shopping.

Today, I am trying to take it easy and relax at home with my kitty. The computer and Fan Story, beckon me, and it is hard to tear myself away from it, and just chill!
At least I'm not doing chores today.
But, the weekend is sometimes the only time available for those of us on the go!
    Have a great day anyway,
    Jesse

Enjoy your free time. I know it?s a rare commodity. I decided to dispense with the food shopping today in favor of paying bills, but the laundry, sadly, couldn?t wait.

As long as I have enough funds, I don't mind paying bills at all! But I am enjoying my free time.
Try to find some for yourself today.

Jesse,
This free verse poem is so true. The work of a craftsman lost its worth for a while. Now we should be thankful for anything made by hand.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Joan

The trouble with humans, even though one day we'll stand naked before the throne of God, and no man can say they are better than another man. We brought not nothing into the world, and can't take a thing from it. Beautifully writtenJesse, excellent free verse, blessings Roy

Your ultra-concise poem conveys a powerful message about the necessity of good old-fashioned--or advanced!--hard work. Labor is what makes the world turn.

It sounds like knowledge has opened doors and when we understand we are at peace, misunderstanding can cause much stress and anxiety. As for hard work, it is always appreciated, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

Thank you, Dolly, for getting to the core of what was going through my head as I wrote this. Hard work is its own reward, but it needs to be honored as well by others.

There has been a stigma attached to being a blue collar worker for so long that people have lost sight of the fact that without the hands to execute them - ideas would remain just that - ideas in our munds

Yes, I agree, June, that people have lost sight of the idea that physical labor built our houses, cars, bridges, freeways, washing machines, etc. We need to honor the laborer and the drafter both. One can't happen without the other taking part. Thank you for this insightful and thoughtful review.
    Have a beautiful Sunday,
    Jesse
