Interesting recapitulation of a life that was full of surprises and death that sometime crossed your road and took tribute from your family, but you are right only with prayers we can move on. Thank you for sharing and good luck with your writings and a Happy New Year.

I like this reflection from Texas very much. I like the way you have put the virus in its place, set below personal tribulations that have affected your family over the years. You are lucky not to have been directly hit by Covid, but I think you deserved that escape, as you have certainly had a lot of trials to cope with over the years.

Barb
You definitely know how to keep us readers on Fanstory feel about the unhappiness you have endured through out the years.
Barb, I feel the same way---
I will never say it can't get any worse, because it can. I continue to pray daily for our country and humanity.

I liked reading about this as a kind of editorial on 2020. I thought you did a good job comparing and contrasting. I suspect that where one lives in the world also affected one's point of view. And I totally understand where your husband is coming from, as I listen to senior citizens all day long and was raised with Cleon Skousen's books against Communism in our house. Thank you for sharing!

You're right. However bad we may think the past year has been, many can think of worse times, such as you related. Jeff has shown that creative approaches can work in times like these. I pray that communism will not take over, but we now have Biden, and I don't think he'll be strong enough to resist those who are pushing for all those government programs. I have my eye on Georgia's senate races, and hope the Republican candidates come through. That may make all the difference. We've got to think positive and pray that the country remains strong. I'm glad you wrote this. I think you're speaking for many of us. judi

Thank you for understanding. I believe Biden is in China's back pocket and Dominion will make sure the Democrats win in Georgia.

You're welcome. I fear a Democrat win in Georgia. They are going all-out to do so. judi

Barbara, who can deny that you had a huge amount of heartbreak in your life, as has your husband. And the loss of a child can be heartache enough to last a lifetime for any person. But you are a tribute for all of us by standing tall and moving forward through it all. God bless you, Barbara. You are fighting the good fight.

I see that you are like me. Looking back at both the good and the bad and knowing that in spite of everything we still have a lot to be thankful for. It certainly could be worse, and It may get worse but we have fortify ourselves to be able to withstand whatever comes our way. God is still in control and I'm pretty sure He's not overwhelmed by what's happening. He still able to guide us though whatever comes.

It's good to hear this from you, dear Barbara. I feel the same in many respects. Personally, I've had far worse years than 2020. I think I've already written about many of them or alluded to them. I think our freedoms and liberty are at stake and this is not changing with today's date. This keeps me on my knees as I see many things going on in the United States and worldwide that are reminiscent of how Hitler's army and propaganda almost took down Europe. Same song, second verse. My only hope IS the Lord. Our times are in His hands. I believe Jesus is returning soon and this gives me added comfort. We are surely in the end of days as spoke of in the Bible. I'm encouraging everyone I know to draw close to the Lord during this time. I've been able to share the gospel right and left with so many despite the pandemic. God bless you, dear Barbara. This comes with prayers for you and your family,
Sal XOs....

I can quite understand what you're saying, Barbara. The terrible times you've lived though are far worse than what is happening today, we will overcome the virus, we will get stronger again, but you cannot bring back a child, you cannot bring back you dad, you cannot stop living under the threat of cancer. Sometimes lives throws the dice the wrong way and it's the decent people who get the down side. You certainly have a clever son. He could see an opening and took it. Some people are like that, they won't sit back and watch everything they've built up, collapse and do nothing about it. Well done your son! I wish you a much better life in the future, I wish you good health, and happiness. Happy New Year, my friend. Sandra xxx
For an unpromoted story, it certainly isn't! lol.

Thank you for understanding. I just reread it and left out the parts that our oldest son is still in the Army, so far 24 years of service and 6 deployments. My brother-in-law, son, husband were in Iraq at the same time. My brother-in-law only did 4 years of service.

Very well written, Barbara. Your meaningful words resonate with me as I deal with many of the same things you have said. Be encouraged... we serve a big God who does Big things! I enjoye dreading this because it is very appropriate for the days we live in. :)
