A sad but beautiful last message in this free verse farewell to a love now departed this life. Is that the reason why we have seen so little of you recently here on FanStory? I do hope you will continue with your writing from now on.

There is much sorrow and grief in these words as we say our goodbyes and hope to meet again, a delicate and sentimental write, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

I haven't seen you around these parts in nearly a year, and in fact, I hate to admit it but I forgot your name. Yikes!

I do like your poetry a lot. It is emotionally charged with lots of heart can be seen in the lines. Bless you and Merry Christmas. Bob

It's a powerful statement of love as experienced anew in some old love letters - a tribute to a real, lasting and meaningful connection of two human hearts -

Wow, Missy, the "final journey" you mention at the poem's conclusion is wide open as to what it could mean, isn't it. She could hand it to him as she drives the dagger home. It's sure good to hear you again. It's been a while that I've been gone and only recently returned. Kind wishes for you over the Holidays and into the new year.

This is great, a letter of both sadness and acceptance. Love once lost is seldom the same if it returns, so we wait and hope, but are usually disappointed. Thanks so much for sharing.

Well done, the black background gives added pathos to the work, and what looks like a very old photo of Hedy Lamar adds something else to that, beautifully written in the correct style for this post. Beautifully done my friend, blessings Roy

Well, as I've said many times, I wouldn't know a sonnet from sorbet. But even I'm touched by words of which I can relate as they pull at my heartstrings. Thanks for sharing.

Oh my goodness, Ric, thank you for the 6. I am with you on the Sonnet thingy. I found my niche in Ekphratic poetry. I am delighted to know I was able to pull on your heartstrings.
May this Christmas season bring you lots of Joy, my sweet friend.

Oh, that is a beautiful memory of love letters and what they meant. A romantic trip down a memory lane (I love that artwork, what a beautiful woman!). Great imagery and visuals. Love is seeping through every line, and the words stay with a reader.

Thank you so much for sharing, I really enjoyed it.

Lady JUSTAFAN,
The photo does well in reinforcing the sentiments of the poem. It does hark of the romantic literature of the 19th century, the lost love and a sad denouement. You chose the words well to complement the emotion.
There is the timelessness of the promised reunion, of faith, or the end of a wait if the reunion is not there.
Nicely done.
Live long and write well,
Fantasist
