Such a good poem, here. I enjoyed it greatly. You do a good job of getting across the realities of war in such a short piece. Great stuff, here.

I love war poems though I despise war. This one was great. Very powerful imagery. Really gives me the feel of being in the midst of battle. Maybe quotation marks "Now fix bayonets," went the battle cry. I like minimalist poetry that speaks volumes. Nicely done.

My Dad is a Pearl Harbor survivor..So of course i hear about that war often...I am saddened that we just have to keep on fighting...But like my Dad says "we do what we have to do"..thanks for this poem, Lavender

I felt the strength in your writing. The words you chose filled my senses with what courage would be like, especially of the terror that awaits. As a Marine mom I find your poem heavyhearted and honorable.

That pretty much says it all. wouldn't it be a wonderful world without war. This poem strikes at the heart. And it makes the person feel cold.. war is so stupid.. results of greed and selfishness.. Well done!

This short poem really packed an emotional wallop. I especially liked the ending. It was rather abrupt and jarring, but surprising in a fresh kind of way. It was also heavy with the sense of foreboding. You claim your spelling and grammar is not the best, but there is no evidence of that here: the flow of this piece was perfect. Keep writing this kind of stuff; it was great.

Cheers

Very strong work! I think there is a contest going on right now to write a story in poetry form. This would certainly fit. WWI - I don't think most people know how horrific that war really was.

I applaud your poem! I love any writing about war, first, second world war...or any war for that matter. My grandfather fought in the first world war. Excellent writing, well done!
