This has the right ingredients for an interesting story. I like the heightened suspense with the questioning and the backingout but not really. I can't wait to see who is at the secluded table. ann

A very good read that captures the emotions of Laila very well as she meets this mysterious man. I'm very interested to read the conclusion to this story, great job!

I so enjoyed reading this and was disappointed that it ended where it did. I want to know about the guy she's meeting. This was so suspenseful. I love suspense but want to read the whole story. Are you going to post the 2nd half soon? Your words are understandable, nothing to stop the reader. Creative and descriptive. Excellent writing. You'll want to correct the little nit: in the 11th paragraph "...is my dress TO short...? Should be ...TOO short..." Everything else is fine and very well done.

Good description of indecision. Laila goes through numerous situations in her mind. This makes her seems like a realistic person.

Now I'm wondering if the older gentlemen is Laila's date!!! Can't wait to read the 2nd part and find out the conclusion. Great writing. Didn't catch any SPAG. It kept me engaged throughout.

I really loved it, when it was done I just wanted to read more! It was very well written and I likes the way you played with the text between internal thoughts and external descriptions.

Poor Laila. I felt every nervous feeling she felt. I met my husband od three years this way. You did an excellent job, of 'should I wear this, should I wear that?' I had to laugh about her nervousness as it brought back memories. She was a little bolder than me, I must say. Great story, great imagery. I felt her pain of the unknown, Shirley

She's only 22. Anyway, thank you for your kind review.

At 22 she can be bold. LOL I was 47 and hadn't been on a date since 1978. I had been married all that time. I understand her being so nervous. Great write, Shirley

Barbara, you do an excellent job of conveying this young woman's doubts about what she has done, flying to a strange town to meet a man 11 years her senior - I could just feel her nerves as she backs down and then moves forward then backs down then moves forward. LOL You work in the back story smoothly and explain the kind of trepidations that are so realistic. Would an elderly man and a hostess really address a 22 year old as ma'am?? I can't wait to read the second installment :-) Brooke
