My departed wife born 3/27/51 refused to discuss politics or religion or anything else(Ford Vs. Chevy) that might stir up a row in her beauty shop. I sense a similar delicacy in your poems. I think that is very wise.
This poem is of your usual quality, I think.

LIJ, thank you so very much :-) I am a huge social/political advocate and debater outside of poetry, but lately poetry has been my haven from that other part of my life. :-)

Great poem, Brooke and the perfect picture to accompany it. Life is full of possibilities and surprises if we are just open to seeing them. Have a good evening, my friend~Debbie

Brooke;
Is very luscious and nectarous, or should I And should I say sweet poem that I truly enjoyed immensely. And him popping out of the bag in your picture so complementary to your poem.
I think one of the most advantageous lines you all that I shall never forget is this one: "You never know when falling rocks my turn to stepping stones--...". This definitely talks about, To me anyway, a sense of hope that's in everything one does or if one is confronted with an obstacle things may change to the good.
Your writing is very inventive and creative Brooke and you always show me the best of your imagination.
This writing is very expressive and descriptive especially in the picture which says it all and expresses your title about a surprise very much.
Thank you for sharing and posting this for everyone to read and may the good Lord be with you always my friend.

You never know what'll come next
From our poetess reigning Queen
But there is one sure bet
Sawyer's face is sure to be found
Well done as always, Buck

True that, Brooke. We truly never know what surprises life has in store for us, both good as well as bad, lurking just around the next bend. But that's one of the many things that makes the journey well worth the time.
Well done!~Dean

Again, a wonderful rhyme for children. The care you took to get the format just right is evident, now that I know about it, and you've done it again. Congratulations on a job well done (again).

This is yet another interesting poem that the author has created with this piece of writing. The world is full of possibilities. We just need to realise them.

Hi Brooke, you are a veritable poetry machine! your poems are consistently excellent and I like many others I daresay have run out of words to express my admiration.
