Oh, Brooke, I could see this as a book with some great illustrations even though the poor little acorns seem to have met their demise in one way or another. As always your wonderful rhyme would keep the attention of any child or adult, not to mention the story itself.

attractive alliteration in "side-by-side" and "squirrel scratched", impressive imagery that was very descriptive and expressive, outstanding artist's painting that represents and complements the poem, exquisite inventive and creative imagination, resourceful use of tempo and meter in its rhythm and an excellent composition for children as it teaches them to learn how to count. These are the many qualities that I obtained from reading your poem which is fantastically written.

Hi Brooke,
you know how I love your counting poems... must be the child in me that misses such innocence... and as usual,your meter, rhyming and flow are spot on and filled with fun... it actually hits an accord with me as I watch my avocado tree shed its fruit on a daily basis from the wind, rain and yes, birds, possums and bush rats. Hopefully they'll leave a few for me to eat.

Bumper crop of acorns this year. Walk in the woods at your own risk. A big acorn dropping fifty feet will make a knot on your head. A fine poem to teach counting.
