How fun! Something from the heart of the young and for the young at heart, I would say. We all remember the childhood fun of playing with ur shadows. Remember trying to step on your shadow???? I like the way this poem is structured to tell the story of a day in the life of the child and his or her shadow. great job!

Ah yes. Our ever faithful shadow, copying our every move. And willing to play a puppet show with us, too. This is a wonderful poem. But there is a word of caution to be learnt. If you see something with more than one clear shadow...run!

Your daughter takes the best pictures! Thank you for sharing Sawyer's life and times through them and your endearing words--this is the closest I get to enjoying a grandchild. As usual, I enjoyed your rhymed, rhythmic quatrains, and I found your abundant personification very appealing. Hugs and happy weekend- Joan

You start a story with the bare necessity of words, add more important details, then finish the story with a meaningful closure that brings a smile...and usually a memory or two.

This reminds me of Peter Pan. Didn't he ask Wendy to sew shadow back on? My memories are hazy here, so I could be wrong. Well-organized going from many to one. Just think--a shadow can provide such fun for a child and even better, it's free.

What a wonderful take on the childlike delight in shadows attached
and contemplation of where they go once the sun sets (a sort of
reverse vampire LOL) A friend and plaything :-)

Nicely done Brooke - as always :-)

Me and my shadow told in your own
inimitable fashion in rhyming quatrains
as your refreshing tale of the mysterious
shadow that intrigues all of us children
skips down the screen till the last rays
of the sun
Well done
