I agree sometimes a funny face can turn things around. Not only with children but with adults too. When things are getting out of hand with my husband I make a funny face and end the controversial discussion. and that usually brings it to en end. Good children's poem

when bug bites irk and monsters lurk
and peas are on the plate, [You had me spitting coffee with this line. Always the unexpected rhyme.

You have so much fun turning the whole world into rhythms that quadirtle off the tongue (don't bother, it ain't there)and rhymes that... well that just belong.

Thanks, Brooke.

Jay

oh how true that is. The looks on some the faces of parents and children when they're trying to cheer each other up can't be described in sensible words. Goofyprecious comes to mind (see what I mean about non-sensible). Ah well.. who needs sensible when we've got butterflies, daisies, and green unicorns?

Very enjoyable.

Loved the rhyming and good cadence! The collection of scenarios caught reality so well; whether child or adult, all could relate.

A sweet and clever poem and oh so true Brooke. Some days just seem to go wrong and then --- a funny face truly does turn the day around.

Great picture of Miranda and Sawyer. Excellent rhyme, internal rhyme and good alliteration. Loved the delightful imagery.

Janet :)

Hello adewpearl, Brooke, This poem made me smile before I even read one word. Your words are so true:

A funny face is all it takes
to turn a day around --

A happy poem with silky rhyming that still has me smiling.

Very good. Keep the blue waters flowing and the smiling faces glowing. LateBloomer

Great poem, easy to read and flows very nicely. You simply must illustrate your children's poem and put them into book form. I wrote and illustrated a children's picture book many years ago. I think that's what you should do, also.

I always enjoy your poems about your grandson. What did you ever write about before he was born?! The internal rhyme lended some additional pizzaz, and the rhythm had me internally skipping along. The imagery of all the things that can go wrong in a day were vivid and humorous. As always, thanks for sharing your gift. Caroline

Brooke;
I want to thank you so much for making me laugh and giggle at some of the lines in your poem. Especially with the peas on the plate my wife does not like peas.
Your poem was very imaginative work was very inventive and creative and you are so clever and witty with some of your lines. You were superbly descriptive and expressive in writing your piece especially when you wrote about the kites in the trees and the Hornets that fly.
Your meter and tempo were written very well And where your rhythm flowed so smoothly throughout your poem with a rhyming technique that helped at your rhythm flow. Your rhyming also was neither forced nor labored.
Thank you so much my friend for sharing and posting this to be one to read and made a good be with you and yours always.
Alex
