I certainly enjoyed the turn in the final stanza as you brought us back to being grateful for what we have. Even with our drought in California, we have a magnificent coastline. Your rhymed quatrains plus the personification of the sun are quite appealing, and Sawyer's reaction is irresistible. Hugs and happy Sunday- Joan

I think I had the same reaction when I first heard that word. Twas truly a mouthful but made me giggle every time I tried to say it. Marvelous poem and equally stunning photos of Sawyer. I enjoyed this one immensely. Terrific work with it too.

How could he not be, with you as his grandmother?
reply by the author on 22-Jun-2014
Don't say that - his other grandparents are ultra-conservative Republicans! I hate to think he'll automatically be like them. LOL

Something tells me you will carry a little more influence with him...my parents were republican and conservative and look how well I turned out...lol

That's true - to their chagrin all three of their children are raving liberal Democrats LOL

What a stunning ode to the true power of love.

Love all of the fresh images.

I do agree. We both have known that soul-transforming joy of loving another unconditionally ... so, there is really nothing to fear. We have had it all.

You have inspired me ... I feel a grandchild-fueled poem coming over me.

Hugs, d

What a great word. My friend was told by a drunk (when she was four or five years old) that she was ugly. She put her hands on her hips and said "I may be ugly but I can spell Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious." She said it stopped him in his tracks. LOL. Don't know why that just came to mind but it did. Great way to keep the smile going in the impending doom. A smile can mean so much and it never costs either party a dime. Great poem.

Hi Brooke,

What darling pictures of your grandson Sawyer. He has the cutest look on his face for each picture. Your poem is beautiful too and a very enjoyable read.

Dear Brooke - another wise post which not only gives a deeper message, I found this one had more to say between the lines too. There is truly so much more in a smile...and they are free to give and to receive. Skillfully penned throughout.
Thanks for sharing.
Maureen

Glad I have a six left for this one, Brooke. Nice alliteration of d's and s' s. ABCB rhyme scheme helps the words flow effortlessly and Sawyer's smiles
help us to understand its loving message. 8-)

Now that's a word and a half. I remember going to that movie with my mom. I loved every bit of it - especially the song 'Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious' and how hard I worked to get my mouth around it. Glad children are still learning the word - I hope that they are still getting to see the movie. Julie Andrews and Dick van Dyke were wonderful, and EVERY song in the movie was exceptional. (I liked Feed The Birds)
Great poem, Brooke - At first I thought you were going to write something heavy about the state of earth's climate - but, I was pleased to see you stuck with your optimistic side, and your grandmotherly pride.
Rose.

Rose, thank you so much :-) Miranda just said the word to him and he burst into giggles, so then she played the song and he danced his way through it, bopping and smiling. LOL Brooke
