Hello Janet. Your sonnet style certainly meets the standard for construction. The story is very touching and shows the growth of Love through the years. It also expresses full commitment between two people.
Good luck in the contest.

What a lovely story, and how lucky Ingrid and Jim are to have you in their lives. Your poem expresses deep love and tenderness in beautiful, descriptive words. Your images are vivid and powerful, and your rhymes are well chosen. I hope this does well in the contest.
Just a quick note on your end comments. You said "with sustain them forever" when you meant to say "will sustain them forever."

When hearts are united the shared journey will keep the bond strong through good times and challenges, to eventually cross the finish line with dignity. I love the gently steadfast tone of your poem.

What an inspiring poem. I enjoyed it from start to finish but make special note of: whose finish line we'll cross with dignity. I just love that - it's such an original phrase. Nicely written. Hugs, Lou

In my opinion, my rating is a tribute to this writer's adherence to the sonnet and her friends, but I found the rhyming rhythm somewhat uneven, which I often do with this particular form...

A beautiful smoothly written poem you've created for your friend. I am sure she will be touched. And you are so right, we all have to encounter storms in life - such as this pandemic thing we are going through right now. We have been married 60 years, so have encountered many things. Right now we are snowbirds living in AZ for the winter, now must scurry back to Canada. Life keeps changing...but luckily we can handle it together - Blessings, Carol

Thank you Carol for this wonderful review. Wow! 60 years is quite an accomplishment in this day. My married years have been in two parts - one lasted 33 years and the current one will be 25 this year and I believe it will stand the test of whatever time we have. :))))
Have a safe trip back to Canada.
I talked to Jim a few nights ago and he is doing great.

Two long term marriages is also a great accomplishment. We made it safely home after 3 long days on the road. We are currently in a 14 day quarantine.
Luckily we have family very close by who we must stay 6 feet away from so no hugs for now! This bug is very nasty and causing a lot of havoc in our country and yours. Stay safe. Carol

Many wonderful images in your poem that I enjoyed. My favorite, that we'll cross the finish line with dignity. I'm glad that Jim is doing well.
though (through) valleys deep and mountains we would climb.
