This is absolutely outstanding. It is what everyone deserves in a relationship but few people receive. I love the second stanza. Your last two lines are beautiful. Your image is a reflection of strength and the person you describe. Gorgeous poem !

Well, my lady, you have staked your claim and your love in a beautiful and old-fashioned way that harkens us all back to the Shakespearean works of yesteryear... so strong and quite melodic, although I would definitely give this one more cello for 'manliness' rather than the plucky lute... lol! ;) I've not read another of your sonnets (I don't recall at the moment) so I'm guessing that no. 9 has more significance than just a Shakespeare reference...? ;) Either way,
there's just no substitute for a strong, loving man in your life, is there? Thank you for sharing... thoroughly enjoyed!! ;) Yvette

Hello Gloria... thank you so very much. I always value your opinion! Sonnets are always a challenge and I have set myself a task to do more of them... and I want to branch out and approach different topics with the sonnet form... but, this was for Hubby and Valentines Day ~ he liked it ;)

I like the switch in the third stanza after the comparison between the mountain and river. The final lines are excellent. Nice sonnet.
