Well, now that's a grumpy prompt. Looks like you followed it to the stingy letter.
The abab rhymes and anapests definitely put it in the field of poetry. Excellent.
Even Ingles is a madhouse today...

Oh dear, I fear another tear
has fallen in pure joy...
you've made me laugh aloud at crowds,
but visualize the Boy
whose life was Heaven sent to bless,
a sinner such as me.
I love you, my sweet friend, Yvonne,
and what you make me 'see'.

This is very nicely composed. It brings to mind that despite the hustle and bustle and the pressure we put on ourselves, there is a reason we are celebrating Christmas. Good luck in the contest. Marilyn

A very well-written Christmas poem about the rush to get things done before the final hour that we hardly have a second to think about what it is all about until we sit down and relax.

Amen to your story/poem. It seems these days that man is more interested in feeding his face and spending money that he doesn't really have. Jesus is the reason for the season. Thanks for sharing and Happy Christmas to you.

It seems to get forgotten in the mad rush. Thank you for reviewing.

This is well-written and REALLY lovely--taking the reader from
the big to-do we through to accomplish things that DO matter,
but not as much as Jesus. WELL DONE.

This is a great contest entry, Mystery Author. Super job with the rhymes, the storyline, and the descriptive words that paint a vivid picture of the commercialization of Christmas . . . .until the last 2 verses. It all comes together nicely to remind all that Christmas is more than buy, buy, buy. Thanks for sharing a well written, well thought out poem with a great message. Jan

i really like the way you describe the realities of Christmas with two contrasting scenarios taking place side by side. It rhymes and flows well from start to finish. Thanks for sharing this well written poem, Well done!

Nice job. You have described the two meanings well. The first is what Christmas is not all about. All the hustle and bustle and spending is a bit sickening. The second part, the birth of our Savior into this world, what Christmas is all about. I guess it depends on how you view Christmas. I prefer the latter part of your poem. Well done and good luck.
