I am laughing at the humor of the Rulebook
I also like the poetic stanzas
I know, sweetie - add comma for direct address
What a delightful and naturally compassionate grandchild :-) A lovely story :-) Brooke

Hello judg. This is a beautifully written story. I could feel the love you put into it and felt happy that such a small little girl understood the Christmas spirit and the spirit of giving. Beautiful! xxoo Kiwi

This is a delightful, heart-warming story with a strong moral. You have written it skilfully, with more than a hint of humor.

A great little story with a great big moral. Nicely told from the child's perspective. Good use of simple conversations displaying some deep thinking on the part of the child. A lesson valid all year, but especially poignant in the current season.

Thank you Ray. You got the point and perspective of the story, some others did not. I appreciate your time in reading and commenting. John

I LOVED the title of the story and the story itself. It's not unusual for kids to react exactly as Aiden did. That's the beauty of the young and innocent. Nobody's taken away things from them yet. I just got out of the hospital and am headed to over Yahoo. Just like this story will stay with me for a while, so will you and our friendship!

Yes, hospital. I'm still working on the reply to the e-mail you sent me and called me a freaking Princess. I'm just going to add on to that reply. Did you think I forgot about you?

What a nice story, it's sweet to see kids make choices like that, and it goes to show you the power of the human heart. The best joys on holidays is indeed in the giving, not the receiving, at least for me. There is a lot of pleasure in showing your loved ones how you feel.
Thanks for sharing,
- TR

This was a great story, and your writing style was excellent. The "Guide to being the Funnest Grandma" would seem to produce questions and seems to distract from the message of the story. In the second to the last paragraph you wrote: "don't want her not to have" which is a double negative--hard for children to grasp. Since the story turns on Aiden's reaction to a little girl crying, you should have described the situation more. This is a wonderful story that should be told in many different ways to kids at this time of year.

Wow! Thank you. No one pointed the 2x negative. I should fix that. Thanks for reading and your commentary. I do appreciate it. John

This is a very well written and charming tale with a good moral lesson too. This is just the sort of thing a young child would think and say - I could picture it easily. I laughed out loud at the handbook references. Well done, this is a fine work.
Kindest of regards,
Mrs D :-)

Yes indeed this is a very inspiring story for many other children to read. It goes to show that little children are able to understand the gift in giving to those who have so little. You must be very proud of her and I hope she will continue to show her kindness to others as she grows up in years. Thanks for sharing this story.
