I love animals, and can relate to your poem. I remember my dog shaking from a thunder storm, I had her doing tricks and giving her treats to keep her mind busy, she stopped shaking. Good luck in the contesr.

Thanks so much. My terrified dog came to my bedside during the night because of the thunder and lightning. I felt so pleased that he trusted and loved me enough to know he could count on my help. And he lifts me up when I am down. Animals are just so full of love.

This is beautifully written and so true about our fellow companions. I have a cat named Sunny and she comes to me when she is scared and I come to her when I need comfort. We need each other and it makes me feel good.
I know you know what I am saying as you have a dog which gives you much comfort also.

This is totally beautiful, and I love the words as much as I love the accompanying picture. What's so great is that either could stand alone and be wonderful. Great entry. I hope you can boogie down to the winner's circle!!

I like the way you have described the warm, symbiotic relationship between dogs and humans, within the constraint of the prompt. It is truly unconditional love at its best.

Hi there,
I liked this post very much.
There's something special about the reciprocal relationship between human and dog. It is one of mutuality.
I defy cat people to say the same! lol
Nice job

Thank you - and I do whole-heartedly agree. I wrote this the other night when we had a bad storm, and my dog came to me at midnight needing comfort. I was very moved and touched. He knew he could count on me to help him cope. Such love and trust. And he repays me with love and comfort if I am feeling down. Yes, beautiful mutuality. I greatly enjoyed your review.

when you are afraid
you come to me for comfort -
my greatest honour
It sounds like someone really understands what it means to be a friend and be there when needed. Perhaps, both the lady and the dog.
Well done, and good luck in the contest.

Thank you Lancellot. Yes, both. Both lady and dog. Both figurative and literal storms. Thanks for your good wishes.

Thank you very much Douglas. Glad you liked it. Dogs comfort humans during figurative storms of life, and humans comfort dogs during literal storms.
