Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level
My life feels like an endless storm.

My Hurricane Winds and Rain

by Mary Kay Bonfante

Emotional storms overwhelm me,
Anxiety rips holes in ambition.
Depression stalks me fiercely,
I wallow in my condition.

Dismay and sadness grip me,
As age creeps slowly on.
The windows of opportunity
Seem smaller; some are gone.

A confluence of circumstances
Drops me to my knees.
In roiling desperation,
I bring to God my pleas.

My motivation seems fleeting,
Yesterday's energy's gone away;
One hour of that get-up-and-go,
Would get me through today.

What on earth is wrong with me?
The shame, it covers my head.
My deepest, surest comfort
Are the words my Savior said:

"As the Father loved Me,
I also have loved you;" *
Oh Lord, please know right now,
That I am trusting You!

I must move forward, relentlessly
Slogging through this mess.
Continually, mindfully, purposefully;
And my burdens and love confess.

I must stay close to You, Lord,
Never stray away!
You alone can bring me through
This blackest night, to brighter day.

*John 15:9 NKJV

I would like to thank Cleo85 for her dramatically beautiful picture, "Forces of Nature," which as some reviewers have already observed, goes very well with my poem. The image is very affirming, and helps illustrate my emotional experience, making it easier to share.
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
