I rode a train...

by royowen

I rode a train the other day,
but all it did was lurch and sway.
It really adds to this refrain.
The other day I rode a train.

Through mountain pass and valley's dale,
on steady lines that cannot fail.
I wondered how this trip could last,
through valley's dale and mountain pass.

Where would it stop, where would it go?
I feared the worst my angst on show.
But still it climbed my ears went pop,
where did it go, where did it stop?

There was a sign I made it stop,
I thought we'd reached the very top.
To my dismay we're out of time,
I made it stop...there was a sign.

Have you ever had a dream about taking a journey to somewhere you've never been to, and never arrived at that destination? I'm sure some have, it can be quite scary. Elaine and I took a trip in 2005, starting with Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, Central Russia, culminating in St Petersburgh, without any language knowledge, so effectively we were illiterate, but we made it. Made many train trips.
