Birth of America.

Independence

by Willie P. Smith

With few arms to fight a war,
Patriots came from near and far.

They would be free or die in fight,
Battles raged both day and night.

In the camp of Valley Forge,
The Continental army gathered courage.

George, the leader would not give in.
With God's help, he knew they'd win.

In Yorktown when the English were through,
The treaty was signed in 1782.

The will to win did not fade.
A short history in how America was made.
