Was it a dream or a real beast?

Nightmare

How, one must wonder, did this go so wrong,
at the stroke of midnight, all a slumber,
that the pane was gone, glass spread all about?
In the bed-chamber of the young prince, Donne,
the wild beast fangs out, stayed hidden away!
The young prince, from dreamy slumber, did shout.
His dreams did betray, the calm of his sleep.
Was the beast more playful during the day?

The purpose of the Octavian Flow is to tell a story in 8-lines with rhymes. You basically accomplish the 5-Why's (who, what, where, when, why) and maybe a How too.

How, first stanza poses the question; Who, is the prince; What, the beast; Where, in the bed-chamber; When at the stroke of midnight, Why, a dream? or was it....
