The wonders of discovery on a evening walk

Evening Stroll

by JLR

The last golden rays showered the mountain top
shadows casting long tendrils into the fading light
to the point where the waning rays had ceased
though I squeezed my eyes for every last ray.

Shadows casting long tendrils into the fading light
created a vision of movement as night was released
motion that magically made me want to dance away

To the point where the waning rays had ceased
suddenly, I was aware of a sweet floral bouquet
and sitting there with an angelic flair, as if a prop,

Though I squeezed my eyes for every last ray
this maiden, so fair, smiled a bit, my jaw dropped
as her hair shimmered in the moonlit forest canopy.
