The somewhat intriguing story of a boy named Twenty.

A boy named Twenty

by Jose

My name is Twenty. Literally Twenty. You could say it's like a nickname or such, but it literally says Twenty on my birth certificate. Growing up with this name seems pretty predictable, "Is your name really Twenty? What were your parents thinking?" I've heard them all, and I've gotten used to them. You know, even though I have a unique name, I live a pretty regular and basic life.

I feel like I'm rambling so let me describe myself: I'm an ordinary boy, I'm in the 7th grade, I have two other siblings with ordinary names. (Really ordinary like Joe or Bob) And the thing about my name is that it isn't really that special really. It isn't a family name, not a lucky number, not a superstition. Simply, Twenty. The more I'm talking about my name, the more I'm starting to like it! Everybody at my school has basic names, and it feels good to have something unique. The only problem is that this name will stick with me for my entire life. This is something I'm still going to have to get used to. I have been teased, but that has somewhat decreased.

I have asked numerous times and my parents have given me the same response, "We thought of something unique. Besides, twenty seems like a nice number." Although my name doesn't have that interesting back story, it seems relieving to tell my story. My name is Twenty and I am proud to be called this name.
