Someone Forgotten

by June Sargent

Acrostic Poem Contest Winner
Someone's loving wife or mother
Once upon a time
Memories of a different life
Ever so long ago
Obliterated by circumstances
Not in her control
Existing in a cold, cold world

Forgotten by her family
Overlooked by friends
Rejected and ashamed
Gazed upon by strangers who
Only look away
Too embarrassing, they say
Thank God that's not me
Everyone feels bad, but
Not my problem, right?

Writing Prompt
Write an acrostic poem. Acrostic Poetry is where the first letter of each line spells a word, usually using the same words as in the title. See an example in the announcement.

The one beautiful thing about this photo is that she is feeding the birds...despite her circumstances.
