The Wildebeest

by Janet Foor

They say that all the world's a stage
And we’re all players with a part.
What happens when the lights go out?
Will my whole world just fall apart?

The genie never seems to fit
back in the bottle like before.
I wonder-- will she grant my wish
and help me find an open door.

In troubled times so filled with stress --
the sun still rises in the east.
The bluebirds sing and make new nests.
In time we’ll tame this wildebeest.

Take heart for He is in control
of wind and rain and waves of sea.
Since He cares for each sparrow small –
I know He’s watching over me.

The "Wildebeest belongs to the family Bovidae, which includes antelopes, cattle, goats, sheep, and other even-toed horned ungulates. But the word "wildebeest" means "wild beast" in Africa. The term seemed to fit the Coronavirus.
