A Mothers day poem 2020

My Two Mothers

by Chrissy710

           My Two Mothers

A special day has come at last
To see the present -To visit the past.

             My Mothers  dear

One above who gave me birth,
and one I have upon this earth.

So as I come here now today,
Before I kneel with you to pray,
I'll tell you both what's in my heart,
To let you know it will never part.

                 To Thelma

You left when I was a little girl,
Just three years old, with a ringlet curl.
My brother Jim, a babe quite small
My Dad alone but stood real tall.

I remember when you passed away,
There were many who shed a tear that day,
You were with us just a few short years,
But I have your photo and memories.

Then along came another one bright day,
So young and pretty with us would play,
We sang and clapped our hands with glee,
And danced around our fairy tree.

                         To Lois

We loved you from the very start,
We hoped from us you would never part,
And when you were wed so many come,
To see my Dad and my new Mum.

A Mum, who has that special touch.
A Mum, who's given me so much.
A Mum, I'm proud to call my own.
From that little girl - to a woman grown.

Thank you Mum for being you,
For being there, for all you do.
We laugh, we cry, we hug and kiss,
I love you Mum; your daughter Chris.

                  To you both
              My Mothers dear

To Thelma; my mother gone but still so near,
Your spirit I feel through your rings I wear.

To Lois; my mother I see every day
You are still with me. Happy Mother's Day.

Today is Mother's Day in Australia and I have written this poem for both my mothers

My birth mother Thelma passed away aged 29 ( Surgical complications) when I was 3 and my brother was 1

We lived with my Dad and grandparents until dad remarried my earth mother Lois when I was 6 ( Lois was 24)
As a little girl I remember Lois coming out to our farm to visit us and my brother and I loved her from the start . Lois would take us for walks and we found a big hollowed out gum tree and she told us it was a fairy tree We loved going to see it

Lois became our mother and went on to have 4 children my brother and three sisters so there are 6 kids in my family and we are all very close

My mother Lois is nearly eighty five (June this year) and we hope to be able to celebrate this milestone ( I am now 67)

This poem is dedicated to both Thelma and Lois

Happy Mothers Days To My Two Mothers
