A Father's Education

by victortouche

A young one's time
is such a time...
Oh, to have some

Watched her draw
an old soul,
at three or four,
six and eight

What
would you give
for such rawness?

They don't remember
New white bedsheet
stretched between the trees

Favorite stool
sits outside
right down
'fore the sheet

She giggles
She plays
no attention

Efforts gone
like
a summer love

Jus' sits down
an' brushes
a sheet
with colours an' sun

Oh,
my daughter.
you puttin'
'dat shine on

Daddio,
uh huh,
said Daddio
remembers

She painted a white bed sheet,
on a stool, on my memory,
on my soul.

Daddio

The picture is a pillow case
she made at this time.
About six years old.

Yes, I was impressed,
and in love, as any
father would be.
