My Almanac Questionnaire

by sunnilicious

It was a clear night
And the weather was just right.
I watered the houseplant
And admired the Anthurium flowers.
I thumbed a magazine
And stopped to read an article that wasn't mean.
I was whisked into a series of dreams
It was traditional versus extreme.

I lived fairly simple,
But in a sturdy country ranch house.
It was close to a marina and beach
I ran there, I stood there, I ate a peach.
The dolphins were weaving the waters
Their squeals made me know they were talkers
I was somehow transcended to the Everglades
And on an airboat with quick blades.

People fished for rainbow trout in a canal
As alligators hung around like pals.
It was far from "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous"
However, it was travel and leisure celebrated.
Natives smoke danced in the distance
And they were dressed up like dolls.
When I realized that I was dressed for tennis,
I instantly found myself feeling like a menace.
The captain booted me from the dumpy boat
And I saw some pretty trashy stuff afloat

I followed it to tax-free tobacco products;
Where I pulled a casino up from my pocket...
And there was my sweet Romeo all along
He was gorgeous in jeans and strong.
This scientist talked about current conspiracies;
Coronavirus, US and China trade theories.
I was unsure about what to say.
So, I acted interested to give him a way.

Suddenly found formal, my tummy grumbled like thunder
And we ordered drinks and spaghetti without a wonder.
Las Vegas on July 4th out the window,
And complimentary veggie sliders topped with sparklers.
The Barrett-Browning's partied next to us;
It was the kind of night to enjoy pure fuss.
Romeo liked me for being a dreamer
And took us for a driver up to the Hollywood sign.

To be continued,
But I can't promise you.

Day 26, Writing prompt - Answer almanac questionnaire in 5-minutes. Then take the responses and write a poem.

Notes: I answered the questions like days ago. See below the References for like the homework before the poem.

Notes: This was a difficult poem to write. The brainstorming process was ridiculous and didn't match traveling to me. So the poetic story was nutty. I probably utilized the first half of the answered almanac questionaire. I wanted to write the whole thing, but it's creatively draining. I can probably now sleep for a couple days without a problem. Lolz. Also, I wanted to utilize more transportation modes; imaginary and real.

Note: I thought National Poetry Writing Month was suppose to be for fun and learning. I'm not sure what to make of all this, this month. What day is it?
