Words Of The Times

Fifteen days of self-quarantine came
then thirty more was demanded of me.
As our nation is stopped by a viral strain
that has attacked humanity across all seas.

My need to write, to record these times
is driven by love for my progeny;
remember when life's rhythm was brought to a grind
by a silent killer, bringing a worldwide viral Odessey.

While many a war and strife has been known
by mankind everywhere for Aeons of time,
this world event, while not a heavenly tome
brings a hidden meaning this Springtime.

We shelter in our homes, fearing bug uninvited
While the flora and fauna sing praises out loud,
They see the peoples of a once divided nation united
as we are all restrained-constrained under this dark cloud.

God's creations see what we so often fail to see
that Mother Nature has decided to do spring cleaning
Mankind's footprints have been halted by a large degree
As the rushing of winds of time brings on new greening.
