Where would civilization be without the written word?

In Praise of the Alphabet

by HarryT

Alphabet, I am so glad you were invented in Mesopotamian
Books, without you, would no longer be part of our lives
Communication mostly oral, no libraries or written Internet
Discovery and learning, totally dependent on what one is told
Seniors, oh gosh, would have to depend on memory
