Contemplation by the pond

Butterfly

by Marjon van Bruggen

Orange,
yellow,
black,
and pink,

spread wide-winged.
A butterfly hovers trembling
and in perfect balance over the pond.
A fairy trumpet lowers slowly
to drink.

Don't dare to breathe_
Magic rings
of blue, so blue
the water sings.
Enthralled I wonder

what material was used
to make these weightless wings?
The thrilling sound
of baby's first uttered words
leave an ethereal thread
that angels spin into the head
to weave a remembrance.

Love this moment; look and feel,
remember.
Butterfly wings are made by angels.
