A Monometric Poem for the Potlatch Challenge

Things We Took for Granted

by June Sargent

Imprisoned we now rant and rave,
as some attempt to misbehave
and break the rules now firmly placed.
But facts and figures must be faced
so threats to lives can be erased.
With Zoom and facetime they now teach
as classrooms reek from tons of bleach.
An evening stroll along the beach
with grandma now is out of reach.
The gift of human touch we miss -
a simple hug, a gentle kiss.
This void now feels like an abyss.
How long are we denied this bliss?
...Til then we'll simply reminisce.
