Longing For Spring

by Boogienights

Winds blow, the snow falls endlessly,
when out through frosted windowpanes,
I gaze where icy branches dance and
long for gentle springtime rains.

The memories of flowers bring,
their scents and colors to my mind.
I yearn for Earth that's freshly turned,
where water, seeds, and sun combine.

Then nature, as it always does,
a rainbow to my garden brings.
The weeping willow weeps for joy,
the larks in concert gaily sing.

A bounty then of roses red,
sweet lilacs in their varied hues,
and tulips with their dainty cups,
provide me with the best of views.

The muddy puddles in the yard,
provide a place where Robins play.
I love the mud between my toes.
A blissful shoeless muddy day.

The trees whose budding leaves emerge,
promise soon a canopy.
Protection from hot sun and rain...
nature's umbrella just for me.

The river waits for warmer climes,
a thaw to hasten its release.
The soothing waters calm my soul,
and bring my heart a sense of peace.

Up above, a golden sun
against a painted sky of blue
delivers the message...Winter's done!
Its time for spring to start anew.

The wind blows harder, the snow piles high,
not hurrying to leave it seems.
But spring in all its glory waits,
to visit with me in my dreams.
