After a lifetime
Separation

He looked her in the eye “I will miss you,” he said. “You have become a big part of my life.”
“I love you,” she said, shedding a tear. “Are you sure you want this?”
“Yes, it’s the best for both of us. We are different people with different ideas. I’ve been holding you back.”
“But…!”
He leaned over and kissed her cheek. He watched her drift off as the nurse approached.
“You’ll be fine. Count back from ten for me.”
“Ten..nine..eight..”.
He fell into deep sleep as the surgery team surrounded both twins. Their separation was about to begin.
