Mom

by Janet Foor

Her gentle spirit fills each room -
mementos tucked in every nook.
From afghans on the sofa bed
to candid photographs she took.

That treasured teacup on display --
the colored quilt she made last year.
Those dainty snowflakes she crocheted
remind us all that Mom was here.

I miss her dark brown Irish eyes
that sparkled when she saw a child.
She was my beacon through the years --
her love was felt each time she smiled.

‘Twas wintertime when she was born
and in the winter, she was gone.
Plus ninety years she was my mom --
now heaven sings her welcome song.

My mother left a legacy of love to me and my family plus we have treasures of her everywhere in our home. She was a few weeks shy of her 93rd birthday when she passed on February 16th 2013. The picture is of her at her 80th birthday party.

I miss her everyday.
