Upon the wall hung a picture;
A lovely woman whom he loved.
The promise of a lifetime,
Forever with death the parting.
But, one day the picture fell,
And revealed a picture behind her face.
The hidden portrait of another,
For whom she had a greater devotion.
Nothing could repair the broken trust:
Like the broken frame upon the floor,
Shattered were the dreams that had been made.
Torn apart was the life together;
Revealed was the truth about her being.
Untrue was her love:
There was a picture behind the picture.
