Nightmares and Dreams

by Dolly'sPoems

My bones are weary and my body tired,
and I retire with dreams of sleep in mind,
and so begins the journey I’ve desired
I close my eyes, in slumber I am blind.

Consumed now in the wonder of my dream
where corridors are long and doors are closed,
and shackled to the echoes of my scream,
the ghosts that haunt my conscience are exposed.

I stir at dawn as sleep forsakes me now,
the thread of nightmares fade into the mist,
all memory is lost in dreams somehow,
the detail of this night has all been missed.

Until the darkness falls and dreams repeat,
the daylight wipes the slate, and dreams delete.
