The Path behind my House

by poetwatch

While walking through the woods
Behind my house
I notice a path between the trees.
It was not there yesterday.
As the trees wave their limbs in the wind,
Whispering my name,
The mystery of madness moves my mind.

Temptation is a tantalizing tease.
I cannot help myself
I walk between their arms and...
Find myself on the other side.

I look back and there are no trees,
There is no path,
Only the light above.

Where am I, I wondered?

I feel like Alice in wonderland,
Lost in the blaze and amazed,
But did not feel any malice
Only the heat from the sun.

Where am I!?

I did not know and start walking.
The trees I see sway with no wind,
They stand straight with slender stunning curves
and appear to be dancing delightfully.
They have mops on their heads
That bow down ready to sweep you off your feet.

Weirder and weirder, wild and insane,
Cause,
Farther down, some rocks roll on the ground,
Some skid over the water playfully.

Where am I?

Then, a voice sounds in my ear.
"Why do you ask if you already know?"

I look around, but no one do I see.
What is happening to me?
Am I the only nut under this sun?
Have my brains fried and are ready to crack?

Silence, no words whistling in the wind.

Suddenly, I feel sleepy and lay down to rest,
It seems that time ticks faster here.
As the sun sets, the stars twinkle in the sky,
The grass comes together to become my bed.
One of the rocks rolls and becomes my pillow.
It isn't so hard, I imagine, it had some give
And I love the take.

As I am ready to close my eyes,
A cloud becomes my blanket,
The stars sing a sweet lullaby.
I dream I'm in the arms of the moon
And wake up with the dew's kiss,
Under the shade of the trees,
Behind my house.

Sometimes, I wonder where I walk or wander. :) Hope you like this little free-verse poem, story of the mind.
