Excellent
Not yet exceptional. When the exceptional rating is reached this is highlighted
My life story reads like a map of forks in the road...

I Could-ah Been-ah Contend-ah!

by Reese Turner

Again, that great poem by Robert Frost
Haven’t we all traveled that way?
The "road(s) not taken", for each of us -
Should we have taken? Who can say?

For me, my dad was a part-timer
Radio guy. From him, I learned to talk.
He considered radio merely a hobby
With too few bucks to walk that walk…

Logged part-time air myself in my teens,
Then some shows on-air in the Navy,
Yet, getting home, just studied business:
To aim life at "steak" - with more gravy!

But, now, with talk radio's rise, I believe
I could have done my thing very well –
Maybe not as big as those super stars,
Still, “major market” – Who can tell?

At least, like dad, I’ve enjoyed the hobby;
Doing ads and color for high school games.
So, while my retirement funds were built in
Business, my love of radio lived, remains…

The Life He Almost Lived writing prompt entry
Writing Prompt
Many people talk about what they wanted to do with their lives... what they should have done, the lives they almost lived. Write a poem that captures this.

Old geezers like me always have advice for the young and mine is this: Doing in life what you want most to do is a great idea, as long as what you want most to do pays the bills. Otherwise, do something you enjoy enough to make enough money and time off to afford doing what you want to do. Free advice. Worth every penny!
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
