Sinner, Saint and Middle
A chapter in the book Pure Philisophy

I saw the leaves needed to be swept but thought to myself,
"I'm not going to sweep for leaves because it's a waste of time"
Leave Me
I observed the leaves littering the grounds and decided I would sweep them up so that they would be out of the way.
I could either burn them, or put them in a box.
Leave It Better
I detected the leaves decaying so I made a decision to sweep them into the compost pit out front so that they could break down and make topsoil that would benefit the
flower garden.
There's already two bushes there, a flowering perennial with a tall stalk of flowers, like Hollyhock, and a pale peach rose. They are joined by some of the seeds that have fallen from the Mimosa, which is in the family of the sensitive plant that closes up when you touch it.

The image is one that I took by Sac State CSUS last summer when I also had the Good Fortune of photographing a butterfly on a butterfly bush. Things have always appeared to me in threes and trust me,
there will be more about 3!
As you may know I like to put in appropriate famous quotes before my poems and I was looking up quotes on three and it was hard to find one that matched the theme of this poem so I chose the Chinese wisdom of
Lao Tzu.
Here is some of the ones I found-
"There are three kinds of men. The one that learns by reading. The few who learn by observation. The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence for themselves" Will Rogers
"The three great essentials to achieve anything worth while are: Hard work, Stick-to-itiveness, and Common sense" Thomas A. Edison
In Japan they have a saying that each of us has three faces:
the first one you show to the world,
the second one you showed your friends and family, and
the third one that you show only to yourself.
The latter being the truest representation of yourself.
I tell people that I'm two people,
Darren the sinner, and
Darren the saint .
I wrote a piece called
"Bip-o-nym",
which is a bipolar acronym.
In it I say,
" well if there's Darren The depressed who would say,
" The cup is half empty",
and Darren the manic who would say,
"The cup is half full".
if I'm being bipolar and being manic or depressed there would have to be someone to observe this, a middle ground. Not necessarily a happy medium, but a middle perspective nonetheless".
Also as I was writing this I considered it to be a metaphor for sweeping the passed away- could I be sweeping it under a rug?
I actually had an argument with myself that I was sweeping it into a pile to organize it so I could take out the best and discard the rest. This is called culling,
or to cull the choisest parts from, which is ironically enough how I got my nickname moniker here

Will do nothing and or not go out of his way to help, even though ironically enough sometimes that is the way to solve an equation.
Iteration 2
The medium would like to do something about it whether or not it is accurate and whether or not it benefits everybody is fairly irrelevant the medium just wants to do something 48% chance that can be positive 47% destructive, 3% neutral?
Iteration 3
Darren the saint not only wants to be proactive but if it involves any of the many complex variables in this equation, should turn out to be beneficial for all
