For the Horror that you would superbly create
With such flair that no one could match,
Rhythmic tales to enchant and leave us in awe
Through a howl or a scream or a scratch.

For the Humor that you'd flawlessly entwine
Through quatrains not so apparent,
Blending macabre with your brand of facetious,
Assuring your impact inherent.

But, oh, for the Heart that underwrote ev’ry word
Not the posts but in your reviews,
Encouragement, support, and unwavering faith
From a friend, confidant – for advice or to schmooze.

A matter of Honor before we all knew you -
A Marine in service to all
While your patriotism bled into your works,
‘Twas your nightmares that kept us enthralled.

So, farewell, Sir Dean, Chevalier of Scare,
Godspeed on your journey, my friend,
May eternity find you entertaining angels
With your dev’lish poetry pen!
