Despair

Lost in Loneliness

by Sugarray77

I walked on in silence, lost,
alone in the winter weather.
Isolation surrounded me, overcame me,
and defeated me as no other foe could.

Cold, falling snow peppered around me
and I found raw stillness had possessed me,
leaving snowflakes on my lashes,
and no awareness but an ache in my heart.

Numbness had not been apparent; now,
the lack of feeling has crept all over me
sending waves of despair through my soul.
