Destruction ~ Desolation ~ Death.

Populations at war: women and children dying of hunger and disease. Towns, cities turned to rubble.

Forests that once stood majestic, razed to the ground leaving animals homeless.

Progress has polluted the air; its toxic levels kill life.

Lust for power and wealth has turned Earth into an ailing body.

Large, dark, gleaming almond shaped eyes watch the monitor, their spaceship hidden in plain sight.

An elongated finger punches in their report.

Experiment 31 ~ failed - auto-destruction: imminent.

Writing Prompt
Write a story of 80 words. not including the title. Any subject accepted. Must be exactly 80 words.

It seems some reviewers have misinterpreted the meaning I had in mind when I wrote:

Experiment 31 - failed - auto-destruction: imminent.

I meant that sooner rather than later WE will destroy our planet by ourselves ..

The aliens just took note that we were a failed experiment and moved on leaving us to our own hand made doom.

Alien spaceships are likely to stay hidden in plain sight using a cloaking device.
