A Feast of Faith

Let’s pick and chew
His words carefully gleaning
Poetic redeeming
To savour the flavour

Seasoned with simile
Munching on metaphor
I’ll digest them and search for more
To garnish my dish so delicious

With the host on my tongue
New hymns will be sung
With words to uplift and revive
More than to merely survive

I’ll edit out waste
To tease out a taste
So the psalm of our parts
Speaks straight to our hearts

The choicest phrases
Are used to raise praises
To make my mind’s eye come alive
Our duty of faith is to strive

My comparable life
To overcome strife
Puts my foot on the way
To a bountiful, glorious day

Through the grace of the Lord
His message can be our reward
I’m starving for the sublime
I know this Good Book takes time...
