spirits or mythical creatures

Twelve elves

You wander
On the yonder
Hill and you wonder
If there were elves
And if they were the twelves.
Nevertheless the holy spirit
In despite
Of the tense
Used the preterite
To speak with a sprite
In a manner so intense
That the poor little mite
That was standing
On the painting
In the haunting
Chapel, fell down
Of the frame brown.
The vicar
Scared, but not liar
Gave him a dollar.
