Senryu Suite: In Loving Memory

A chapter in the book Haiku and Senryu Suites

Memorial Day

by Badger_29

"In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends" Martin Luther King, Jr.

Memorial Day

time to give thanks and honor

those who gave their lives

They died to protect

the freedoms that we enjoy

please take a moment

Pause and consider

just how fortunate we are

to live in this place

For we are truly

blessed with so much abundance

compared to the rest

Let us be thankful

tomorrow is not promised

yesterday is gone

It should not matter

whether you are left or right

because in the end

We must remember

our forefathers wise advice:

United We Stand

Thanks to
Glynis Buschmann for the wonderful photograph, and
Royowen for helping me classify the difference between haiku and senryu.

Please be thankful for those who got up that morning not knowing that it would be their last day, leaving behind us who are in a perpetual state of mourning.

Peace be with you

Brother Badger
